Apollo program electrical engineer is back home in Elberton-after 62 years

Returning home after 62 years, Gene and Nancy Rice recently reflected on the Elberton they remember from another era.

Both born-and-raised natives of Elberton, Gene and Nancy packed up their family and moved to Huntsville, Alabama in 1955 after Gene, an electrical engineer and graduate from Georgia Tech, took a job at Redstone Arsenal for missile research with the Germans after World War II. Seven years after moving to Huntsville, the family then moved to Houston where Gene worked at Johnson Space Center for 23 years. (See June 7 edition of The Elberton Star for the full story.)
