Hazel Bond

Hazel Bond, 71, of Hartwell died Dec. 12, 2008, at her home.

A native of Franklin County, she was a daughter of the late O.B. and Emmer Hayes Starrett. She was a homemaker and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Hartwell. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Bond; a daughter, Emily Gay; and three sisters, Margie Veal, Brenda Brooks and Virginia Taylor.

Survivors include a son, Vernon Hicks of Canon; two daughters, Janice Love of Starr, S.C., and Shirley Allen of Anderson, S.C.; three brothers, Herbert Starrett of Hartwell, Wayne Starrett of Royston and Billy Starrett of Carnesville; six sisters, Mae White of Hartwell, Frances Chambers of Dallas, Elizabeth Skelton of Elberton, JoAnn Latimer of Elberton, Linda Thomason of Royston and Faye Meadows of Royston; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Rev. Randal Starrett, the Rev. Charles White and the Rev. Sam Duncan officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
